Robert Doisneau | Le Baiser de l’Hotel de Ville

There are no doubt that the most renown photo of Robert Doisneau is “Le baiser de l’Hotel de ville”. This photo was taken in the early january of 1950 and depicts a man kissing a woman while walking around the street of Paris in front of the famous “Hotel de Ville” which is the City Hall of French capital.
The identity of the protagonist has remained a mistery until 1993 when Denise and Jean Louis Lavergne denounced Doisneau claiming to be shooted in this photo without their
Consensus.
This led Doisneau to admit that the two characters were the work Françoise Bornet and Jacques Carteaud, two actors and models
In 1955, Françoise was paid in part with an original print, that was sold in 2005 for 155.000€!!!!
